No. Auction estimates are non-binding marketing opinions, not formal appraisals, and they are not built to any legal standard of value. Estate filings need a documented appraisal with a stated value definition and effective date matching the date of death.
Different standards. Insurance uses retail replacement value, the cost to reacquire a comparable work through a dealer, while estate work uses fair market value. Both numbers can be right simultaneously; the report simply must state which definition it develops and why.
