    Technology Equipment Appraisal for Divorce

  • I recommend AppraiseItNow Inc. highly. I needed an appraisal of fair market value for geologic laboratory equipment for charitable donations to three universities. The unique items and limited secondary market complicated the valuation. They provided a sound, verifiable estimate and the 8283 forms that I was able to use in my tax filings. I would use them again.

Lab Equipment Appraisal for Charitable Donation

  • AppraiseItNow did an outstanding job appraising my 1998 Bobcat Skid Steer and circa 2010 Yuchai Crawler Dozer. We could not locate a serial number on the dozer, and there were no online sales available, but they were still able to develop an accurate appraisal using known specifications for my dozer compared to other comparable make and model dozers. They diligently researched both equipment items and provided well-documented reports.

    Machinery & Equipment Appraisal

  • I needed an IRS-qualified appraisal for an unusual and costly piece of medical equipment. AppraiseItNow was able to provide me exactly what I needed on a timely basis. The personnel at the company are very friendly and helpful. I would definitely use them again.

Medical Equipment Appraisal for Charitable Donation

  • Affordable and reliable, with fast service and always responsive to my messages and questions. They delivered my appraisal on time without a glitch. 100% Recommended! I wouldn’t use anyone else for my business. Thank you, Joe — you’re great!

Machinery & Equipment Appraisal for Bankruptcy Filing

  • They did an appraisal of medical equipment for donation. They did it quickly, and I received a blank form 8283 signed by the appraiser. It was what I needed. The price was higher than I wanted to spend on an appraisal, but a lot lower than other appraisers. AppraiseItNow was very responsive and communicative, and the other appraisers were not. I would use them again.

Frequently Asked Questions on Pennsylvania Equipment Appraisers

How is farm equipment appraised in Pennsylvania?

Mostly by the market approach: recent auction and private-sale records for comparable machinery, adjusted for age, condition, hours, features, and location, with IronGuides and similar references providing a transaction-based baseline. When a machine is specialized and comps are thin, we support the conclusion with replacement cost less depreciation.

What information should I have ready for an agricultural equipment appraisal?

Make, model, and serial number for each machine, engine hours, attachments and configuration, purchase dates and prices where known, and maintenance or rebuild records. Missing serials or unknown hours force broader assumptions and weaken the adjustments an appraiser can support.

Does a Pennsylvania estate need a state-licensed appraiser to value farm machinery?

No. Pennsylvania's inventory statute (20 Pa.C.S. Section 3301) requires a verified inventory of estate personal property but does not prescribe any particular appraiser, and the state licenses only real estate appraisers. Estates still use qualified equipment appraisers because machinery values feed the inheritance tax return and get reviewed by the Department of Revenue.

Can donating farm machinery support a tax deduction?

Yes, with the right substantiation. Noncash charitable gifts claimed above $5,000 generally require a qualified appraisal and Form 8283, and contributions over $500,000 require attaching the appraisal itself to the return. The appraisal must identify the machinery and value it as of the donation date; a vague fair-value memo does not satisfy the IRS rules.
