About Coins Appraisals in Florida

AppraiseItNow provides professional coins appraisals throughout Florida for a wide range of purposes, including charitable donations, estate tax reporting, divorce proceedings, and probate settlements. Florida's unique regulatory environment, from its no state income tax status to the landmark 2026 legal tender law for gold and silver coins under CS/HB 999, creates specific appraisal needs for collectors, investors, and heirs across the state. Whether you hold a single rare coin or an extensive numismatic collection, our credentialed appraisers understand the federal and state-level requirements that govern coin valuations, including IRS Form 8283 for charitable donations over $5,000 and Form 706 for estate reporting.

As part of our personal property appraisal services, we work with clients across Florida through both remote and onsite appraisal options, making it easy to get a qualified valuation regardless of your location, whether you are in Miami, Tampa, Orlando, or a smaller community in North or Central Florida. We offer Fair Market Value (FMV), Replacement Value, and Actual Cash Value (ACV) appraisals for various intended uses.

What Types of Coins Do We Appraise in Florida?

AppraiseItNow appraises a broad spectrum of coins held by Florida collectors, investors, and estates, covering everything from ancient rarities to modern bullion. Our appraisers are experienced with the full range of numismatic and precious metal coin types, including:

  • U.S. rare and key-date coins, including Morgan and Peace dollars, Walking Liberty halves, and early American coinage
  • Gold bullion coins such as American Gold Eagles, South African Krugerrands, and Canadian Maple Leafs
  • Silver bullion coins including American Silver Eagles, Mexican Libertads, and generic rounds
  • Platinum and palladium bullion coins
  • Foreign and world coins, including ancient Greek, Roman, and medieval coinage
  • Proof and mint sets issued by the U.S. Mint
  • Commemorative coins, both U.S. and international issues
  • Error coins and die varieties with numismatic premium value
  • Civil War tokens, colonial coins, and early American currency
  • Graded and certified coins encapsulated by PCGS, NGC, or ANACS

Florida's strong retiree collector base, concentrated in South and Central Florida, and the state's growing precious metals market following the 2025 sales tax reforms make accurate coin appraisals especially important for both individual collectors and estate administrators. Whether your collection consists of a few high-value pieces or thousands of coins spanning multiple categories, our appraisers apply current market data and comparable sales to deliver credible, well-supported valuations.

Who Does AppraiseItNow Serve in Florida?

AppraiseItNow serves individual collectors, estate executors, attorneys, financial advisors, charitable organizations, and financial institutions throughout Florida who need accurate, defensible coin appraisals for legal, tax, insurance, or transactional purposes. From retirees managing inherited collections in the Tampa Bay area to dealers and investors navigating Florida's evolving precious metals tax landscape, we provide the professional valuations needed to make informed decisions with confidence.

  • AppraiseItNow Inc. is the best company I was lucky to find by accident. I was looking for someone to appraise cabinets for a donation to charity. I asked for multiple referrals, called multiple appraisal services, etc., and no one could help me. I found AppraiseItNow and from the moment I started working with them, they were wonderful! Joe guided me on what I needed to send him, what needed to be done and stayed in touch with me the entire time. Their customer service is OUTSTANDING and a welcome surprise in today’s world where good customer service is an anomaly! They returned an appraisal in a timely manner, it was clear, concise, cost-effective and exactly what I needed. They followed up with me multiple times to ensure that I received it and everything was OK. My CPA is also thrilled to have them as an accredited appraisal service he can use for other clients. I rarely leave reviews, but I could not pass giving them 5 stars and I’d give 10 if possible! THANK YOU JOE AND ALL AT APPRAISEITNOW!!👊🏼

Personal Property Appraisal for Charitable Donation

  • It is a pleasure to work with Joe and his team. They communicate every step along the way and made the process simple for us to have more than 35 firearms appraised. It was all done in a timely manner and the final report is easy to understand. I highly recommend their services.

    Gun Appraisal for Probate

  • I used AppraiseItNow for the first time last month and I was extremely pleased with the results. I needed an appraisal done for insurance purposes and the level of detail about each of my antique furniture pieces was thorough and very helpful in my being able to get the highest amount possible from my insurance company for the antique items that were damaged. I could see that they spent time making sure that the information she included was correct and current for my antique furniture items in the current market. The team responded to my emails timely to answer any questions I had. I would highly recommend Appraise It Now to get a thorough and professional appraisal done on antique items. I do intend to use them again for other antique furniture and jewelry that I have. Job well done! 😃🤗

Antique Furniture Appraisal for Insurance Claim

  • I was skeptical at first, but the company exceeded all of my expectations. The team responded quickly to every question, and the service was excellent. They’re now my go to source for my collection. I’ve used them twice already, and I plan to use them several more times.

    Firearms Appraisal for Personal Use

  • Joe made the process to have my piece of furniture appraised extremely easy, efficient and quick. My experience was great and I'd recommend AppraiseItNow to anyone looking for an appraisal.
    Michael H. ·

    Furniture Appraisal for Insurance Coverage

  • I asked AppraiseItNow to value a piece of sports memorabilia for purposes of a charitable donation. The item is rarely sold. Their research unearthed an important recent sale of a similar item, which I had not found previously, and which the first appraiser I used had not found either. AppraiseItNow was a good deal more expensive than the first service, but they crafted a detailed report in which I have much more confidence. They also helped me make sure the correct tax forms are used. Thank you!

Frequently Asked Questions on Florida Coins Appraisers

What data actually establishes a rare coin's value in Florida?

Documented comparable sales, primarily realized auction prices for the same series, grade, and variety, supported by the PCGS and NGC price guides. Realized prices beat dealer asking prices as evidence, and for bullion pieces the melt value sets a floor beneath the numismatic premium.

How fast must a Florida estate report coin collection values?

Within 60 days after letters of administration issue, when Florida's probate inventory, Form 1.944, is due listing fair market value at the date of death for all probate assets, unless the court extends the deadline. A retrospective appraisal establishes those date-of-death values even if the collection is examined later.

What are the IRS rules for donating a coin collection in Florida?

Noncash gifts are reported on Form 8283, and a qualified appraisal is generally required once the claimed deduction exceeds $5,000. Very large gifts of property valued over $500,000 require attaching the full appraisal to the return. Donation values use fair market value, not insurance replacement figures.

Does Florida tax a coin collection as tangible personal property?

Not if it is a household collection, since Florida's tangible personal property reporting targets business-use assets. Coins held as dealer or business inventory in the state on January 1 are different: they must be reported annually on Form DR-405, though section 196.183 of the Florida Statutes exempts up to $25,000 of assessed value per return.
