We then adjust for mileage, engine and transmission, emissions equipment, maintenance history, and regional demand rather than relying on any single number.
Because each reflects a different market level, and the spread can run thousands of dollars. Retail, private-party, trade-in, auction, and actual cash value serve different purposes, so an appraisal must match the standard of value to the assignment, whether that is a sale, loan underwriting, insurance, or a total loss dispute.
