About title bond appraisals in Alaska

AppraiseItNow provides certified title bond appraisals for vehicles and watercraft throughout Alaska, helping owners obtain bonded titles when original documentation is lost, destroyed, or never received. Under Alaska Statute 28.10.216 and 2 AAC 92.010(b), the Alaska Division of Motor Vehicles requires a physical inspection and a retail fair market value appraisal from a qualified appraiser, with the bond amount set at exactly 1.5 times that appraised value. AppraiseItNow delivers thorough, well-documented reports prepared to meet the requirements of bonding companies and the Alaska DMV.

AppraiseItNow offers both remote and onsite appraisal options, making it straightforward to get a compliant valuation whether you are in Anchorage, Fairbanks, or a remote bush community. Learn more about our full range of appraisal services in Alaska to find the right solution for your needs.

Across 80+ published AppraiseItNow reviews the picture is consistent: every one is from a client who paid us for an appraisal, and the three things they raise most often are that they would hire us again, how quickly we answer, and how much research is visible in the report.

  • They appraised an older trailer for me that required a bonded title. They were great with communication and it only took about 2 weeks to get a very nice detailed appraisal report, which finding comps for older trailers is not straight forward. Highly recommend!

    Auto Appraisal for Title Bond

  • Had a great experience working with AppraiseItNow for a potential loan our company was working on. I was very appreciative of the time they took to prepare the appraisal, plus the extra effort to advise us and explain the appraisal findings.

    Inventory Appraisal for Loan Collateral

  • AppraiseItNow did an outstanding job appraising my 1998 Bobcat Skid Steer and circa 2010 Yuchai Crawler Dozer. We could not locate a serial number on the dozer, and there were no online sales available, but they were still able to develop an accurate appraisal using known specifications for my dozer compared to other comparable make and model dozers. They diligently researched both equipment items and provided well-documented reports.

    Machinery & Equipment Appraisal

  • I was in dire need of an appraisal for my father's mobile home, which he needed for Medicaid approval. I couldn’t find anyone to do it for a long time, but then I found this company online and decided to give them a try. I’m so glad I did. They were wonderful to work with. I sent the pictures, and within just a few days I received the appraisal. They are absolutely worth the money.

Frequently Asked Questions on Alaska Title Bond Appraisers

How much surety bond does the Alaska DMV require for a bonded title?

Exactly 1.5 times the vehicle's appraised retail fair market value. Under AS 28.10.216 and 2 AAC 92.010(b), the Alaska DMV will only issue a bonded title after a certified appraisal of retail value, and it explicitly rejects wholesale or trade-in figures for setting the bond. A defensible retail valuation therefore determines both whether the title issues and how much bond you must buy.

What is Alaska DMV Form 825 and what must it include?

Form 825 is the appraisal certification the Alaska DMV requires in the bonded title process. The appraiser completes it after a physical inspection of the vehicle or trailer in Alaska, and the certified retail value must be supported by a recognized pricing source such as NADA or Kelley Blue Book generated within 90 days of the appraisal date.

Will the Alaska DMV accept an appraisal done without seeing the vehicle in person?

No. Alaska's bonded title procedure requires the appraiser to personally inspect the vehicle or trailer inside Alaska before completing Form 825, so a valuation prepared from photos alone or performed out of state does not satisfy the DMV's requirement for this specific process.

Do lightweight trailers need a bond and appraisal for an Alaska title?

Generally not. Vehicles and trailers weighing 500 pounds or less are exempt from the surety bond and retail appraisal requirements under AS 28.10.216, while anything heavier without adequate proof of ownership needs both the certified appraisal and a bond at 1.5 times that appraised value.
